Country Kitchen Cabinet

This country kitchen cabinet was built to hang on the wall in our breakfast room.  It is made out of mostly plain sawn red oak, but the trim was quartersawn red oak that I routed and cut to size.  The first two pictures are after staining with Minwax's oil-based stain in Golden Oak and a couple of coats of Polycrilic finish, while the third photo is of the project after it was assembled but before the finish was applied.  A third coat of Polycrilic was added for the final touch.  The dowel is for hanging a towel, and the piece is secured to the wall by screwing through the top and bottom aprons.  The plans for this project came out of this book.  I modified those plans to use oak rather than pine, a solid back panel rather than beadboard, and my own trim rather than store-bought trim.
