Shaker Hall Table:

This Shaker hall table was made out of quartersawn red oak, and was from a set of plans available from Woodsmith.  The plans called for cherry, but I decided to use the QS red oak that I had available at the time. I think that I used most every power tool in the shop at some point on this project.  It was finished with two coats of Watco Dark Walnut Danish Oil, and about six or seven coats of Watco's Wipe-on Poly.

In this picture, you can see what a little bit of the grain patterns on the table top look like.  The lighting and scan are off a little bit (in other words, that bright apron isn't really brighter than the rest of the table as it may appear here), but it does show the interesting figure in the wood.

Here's the table after it's final coat of finish.

In this photo, you can see that the two drawers on the workbench have had the Watco Danish Oil applied to them so that they now match the rest of the table.

In this image, the just-completed drawer assemblies are show underneath the table, which has already been given a partial finish.

Here are the drawers in the table assembly.  They haven't been finished yet, and show the contrast between the original color of the wood and the new color after preliminary finishing.

This photo shows the ray flecks in the quartersawn wood fairly well.

Here is the how the table will look in the hallway I plan to put it in.

This photo shows how the drawer runners work and how the top will attach through elongated holes.
